Blog Shout Out!
Shout out to my sister's blog, Saving in the Rain! If you ever thought you were good at saving money or couponing, she will show you how wrong you are.
The sectional couch I want to make a life with
This is a blurry picture of my dream sectional. It's about $1600 or $1800 at Ashley Furniture. Sigh... One day...
Hair piece?
My friend Casey just showed me a very cute blog, http://www.lovelybride.com/blog/, and now I am considering something I never thought about before. Do I want a hair piece? I will have a veil but it isn't too ornate, so I think have something in my hair wouldn't be too much. The blog mentioned that Anthropologie included some great hair pieces.
This one is cute and could go with my dress. (First picture) But do I want a headband or just something that sits in my hair?
I was also looking for some kind of white flower that could go in the curls I want to have cascading down the back of my head. The one shown here is something I like.
Or maybe I'll be really original and go with something like this! I think this would really stand out, though the wedding is during teh day and the light might not come through the way it's meant to.
What do I want to be when I grow up?
I am looking into Master's programs, because if I want to do it, I would need to stay probably Spring 2011.
Options:
One: A masters in library science with a school media specialist concentration I would get this to be a school librarian. It's close to home at St. John's University in Oakdale, a few towns away, but requires me to get my teaching certification and complete the masters and a certification.
Two: A masters in speech communication Much farther away. It's about 45 minutes without traffic, and slightly less tuition than St. John's. I would complete this to be a Speech Communication professor (though a full time position would require me to get my PhD.)
Three: A masters in Adolescent Education At Dowling, after Gordon and I are married, I could attend school for free and get my Masters in Adolescent Education for English. It's not my ideal career choice, which is why I'm not jumping at the opportunity.
Four: A masters of liberal studies Also at Dowling, this masters would possible allow me to adjunct teach on the college level either at 4 year or 2 year institutions... I think?
I was drawn toward the program at St. John's but finding classes that fit around my work schedule might be an issues. Plus, I don't know how long it would take and if after all this, will I really be happy as a librarian and will there be any jobs?
THE ring(s)
These are the rings I was checking out. They're affordable (if platinum and diamonds can be considered affordable). And they look like they would all compliment my engagement ring (seen first). There is one ring I like also that is not on here but is sinilar to the last ring but has bagettes and round cut diamonds instead of just round cuts. Opinions?

Wedding Questions
Wedding Planning Basics: 10 Wedding Questions You Didn't Know To Ask
This is amusing. My favorite question?
3. Do I really need someone to hold my dress while I pee?
This depends on the dress. If you're wearing a full-length ball gown, you'll probably need an extra set of hands to help hold up the skirt while you do your thing. Trust us -- the cost versus the benefit on this is a no-brainer. But if you're sporting a silk sheath and a posse pee makes you cringe, go ahead and handle your own business. Another tip: There's a pee-ready Spanx designed with a hole in, well, just the right place. We'll stay classy and resist the oh-so-obvious dirty joke opportunity here.
Kelly has offered to do this, to spare Lynne.
Breakfast in bed (plus fries!)
Dream ring?
Art Deco Ring Replica
I wish I could see this ring in person. I would seriously consider getting it if I could try it on.
Hair hair hair
Three hairstyles I'm considering for the wedding. Or rather the closest thing I could find on theknot.com
I can go on tangents like nobody's business
4 months and 19 days til September 18th. I'll stand up in front of over 100 of our closest friends and family and face Gordon and say, Hell yea, let's do this thing.
I moved back to LI when everyone moved away. The word "toxic" was thrown around when referring to living here. After living in Astoria for 3 years, I do feel like I won't learn anything new here, but I will learn what it's like to be a wife and homeowner (so far, so good, and better than paying rent) and long islander (not that I forgot, but it might have slipped my mind).
I watch way too much HGTV, Food Network, and tv in general. I don't walk around and explore new places, because every long island town is pretty much the same. I like living near a main street within walking distance. Planning a wedding that is outdoors is way more expensive and more work than I imagined, and buying a house was stressful and moving in and the first month includes quite a bit of fighting and crying and in the end we have a beautiful (and constantly in progress) home to watch Gilmore Girls.
While the suburban life can be daunting and repetitive and include a lot of accents that make you sound like a idiot who doesn't think before you talk, I am lucky enough to have a great man who I waited a lifetime for and hugs me every night and kisses me every morning (whether I'm up or not). And of course, I'm blessed with a comfy couch and fleece blanket and a large flat screen. So back to my suburban reality... mmm left over gyros for dinner soon (makes me miss Astoria).
